Sweat and Tonic Corporate Donation

A huge shoutout to Sweat and Tonic, Toronto’s premier fitness and wellness hub, for raising an incredible $5,500 for Anishnawbe Health Foundation during their recent fundraiser!

We also had the pleasure of sitting down with Angie Wong, Sweat and Tonic’s Director of Marketing, to discuss why they chose AHF as the beneficiary and why supporting our cause is so meaningful to them. Sweat and Tonic offers a holistic approach to fitness, combining yoga, cycling, HIIT, and mindfulness, making it a perfect partner in supporting the wellbeing of our community.

Can you tell us about the inspiration behind choosing the Anishnawbe Health Foundation as the beneficiary of your fundraiser?

As a part of our DE&I commitment to creating a fitness & wellness space and community where everyone is safe and welcome, we’ve dedicated each quarter of the year to specific initiatives that help drive inclusion and support our local community. These initiatives are driven by our purpose pillars – to educate, to act, and to give back. With the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation falling in the third quarter, we’ve dedicated the quarter to giving back to local Indigenous communities, and chose to support Anishnawbe Health Toronto as an organization that provides critical health care programs and resources to Indigenous communities within this city. As a stakeholder in the wellness industry, we recognize that access to health care should be a human right and not a privilege. This is one way we are helping to support and being accountable to the broader community of which we are a part.

What impact do you hope this fundraiser has on your community?

Our goal was to not only raise funds for Anishnawbe Health Foundation, but to utilize our platform to raise awareness for the organization, and to inspire collaboration and philanthropy among our vast community. We also partnered with DJ KIMIWAN for the fundraiser in our signature Live DJ Beat Ride class as a way to offer our platform to spotlight and celebrate Indigenous art, talent, and resilience. Whether big or small, every action we take counts, and when we collaborate, we can make anything happen. We’re so grateful to have had the opportunity to come together as a community to raise $5,500 for AHF!

What does reconciliation mean to you?

We all have a responsibility to the land we live on today. Part of that responsibility is recognizing the history of this country, and being an advocate for and helping to support and amplify Indigenous voices. Reconciliation includes doing what we can to educate ourselves and each other, recognizing the vast intergenerational impacts of Residential Schools, and honouring the journey of survivors and their families.

What’s your favourite Sweat and Tonic class?

We run over 430 yoga, Pilates, HIIT, and Ride classes weekly across our two locations, so it’s hard to pick just one! My favourite class depends on my mood – if I’m feeling like a party, then it’s Immersive Beat Ride; if I’m feeling up for a fun challenge in the heat, then its Vinyasa Power Flow or Hot HIIT Pilates, and I always come out of our HIIT classes like Booty HIIT or Box HIIT feeling strong and sweaty!
