Anishnawbe Health Foundation Appoints New Executive Director, Audrey Rochette

“On behalf of the Board of Directors, I am pleased to announce Audrey Rochette as the new Executive Director of the Anishnawbe Health Foundation (AHF). Audrey brings a breadth of experience and extensive community work with Indigenous organizations, non-profits, government, academia, and Indigenous communities which will be an asset to the Foundation, notably as AHF’s first Indigenous Executive Director,” says Andre Morriseau, Chair, Anishnawbe Health Foundation.
Audrey Rochette is Anishinaabe from Waabadowgang-Whitesand First Nation. Throughout her career, Audrey has had a strong focus on implementing the work of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, as well as fostering Indigenous partnerships, building strategic frameworks, and managing operations.
Audrey is coming from George Brown College as the former Director of Indigenous Initiatives where she created the College’s first Indigenous Education Strategy. Audrey’s passion for Indigenous relations was cultivated through her roles in the Indigenous community as the Senior Development Officer with Indspire, an Indigenous-led registered charity that invests in the education of Indigenous people, and with imagineNATIVE, the largest Indigenous film festival in the world. She currently sits on several committees in different sectors committed to reconciliation work. She is the daughter of a residential school survivor.
Audrey holds a Master of Arts from the University of Toronto, with research focused on decolonizing museums, Indigenous voices, language, and ceremonies in museums.
“I am thrilled to join an organization that has historically supported health inequalities for Indigenous communities. I am dedicated to creating, supporting, and fostering an environment where community prospers through healing and health,” says Audrey Rochette. Audrey joined the Foundation on July 24, 2023, and can be contacted at 416.657.0379 ext. 235 or
